Earning the Title

I bought the domain name and claimed the handle. Now I’m learning the science from the ground up—documenting everything as I go.

I gave myself the title by buying the domain name: WeatherAnalyst.com. I claimed the handle @thewxanalyst on social media. Now I’m doing the work to earn it.

I don’t have a degree in meteorology. I didn’t study atmospheric science in school. What I do have is curiosity, discipline, and a willingness to start from zero.

This project began with a simple goal: understand the weather. Not just in a general sense, but in a real, working knowledge kind of way enough to read model runs, interpret satellite loops, understand mesoscale discussions, and maybe someday issue forecasts of my own.

My goal is to reach, in one year, roughly 90% of what a college-educated meteorologist would know. That’s ambitious. I know I’ll fall short in some areas and surprise myself in others. Either way, the process will be documented here.

This site is a living notebook. Expect progress updates, breakdowns of what I’m learning, tools I’m using, mistakes I’ve made, and thoughts on what it means to study weather in public.

If you’re a student, a hobbyist, or just weather-curious, maybe you’ll find something useful here. If you’re a meteorologist and you spot errors or shortcuts—call them out. I welcome correction. I’m not trying to fake expertise. I’m trying to build it.

Let’s see where this goes.
